Root Canal Treatment
A Closer Look at Endodontics
Endodontics, often termed root canal treatment, involves the removal of infected or inflammed nerve and pulp tissue from a tooth. This treatment is done to help avoid extraction in a situation when a tooth becomes infected. During this treatment, the pulp tissue of the tooth is removed and the root are cleaned thoroughly and then sealed. Endodontic procedures may be necessary in the cases of tooth trauma, heavy tooth decay, cracks and injuries that result in inflammation and ultimately infection. If left untreated these cases may result in an abscess of the tooth’s root with toothache and swelling.
Because the network of the roots in teeth are very complex, we may sometimes recommend that a CBCT X-ray is taken to allow the canals of the teeth to be mapped. We are able to provide this advanced imaging at Honest Tooth Dental Care.
Our team has a wealth of experience in providing endodontic care and treatment, being able to manage many complex cases. Endodontics treatments often take more than one visit, depending on the condition of the tooth and the extent of the infection present within the tooth.
